This elegant and delicious cake was one of Baked. top cakes for 2016 and we couldnt' agree more! (Although it is awfully hard to narrow down just which ones are our favorite as they are all incredible works of art and deliciousness.)

A little about the wedding from Kristina: This 'Fleurs and Filigree' wedding took place at DeLille Cellars--a small, intimate vineyard in beautiful Woodinville, Washington.  The bride and groom paired elegant simplicity with seasonal blooms and warm tones throughout the reception, and our custom cake capped the refinement of the day.

This three-tiered cake was elegant on the outside and a menagerie of flavors inside. Each layer delighted the palette; almond, lavender, and vanilla bean cakes were combined with cream cheese filling. The smooth Italian meringue buttercream design was finished with gold fondant bands and meticulously-designed and hand-crafted sugar poppies dipped in gold.

We loved seeing photos of the couple enjoying our cake on the Borrowed & Blue blog—check the link below to see for yourself at http://www.borrowedandblue.com/seattle/weddings/margeaux-nick

Choosing your Wedding Cake: Seasonal wedding cake advice

There are so many choices when it comes to choosing your wedding cake style.

First, you have to think about how you would like your cake to reflect your personalities.  Are you a classic couple? Modern? Romantic? Avant Garde?

Then, you have to think about how would you like your cake to tie back to the wedding theme?  Are you having a beach wedding? Winery? Backyard private residence?

Next you have to think about how those answers are best achieved through the use of fondant versus butter cream versus a naked cake versus ganache and so on.

After that is flavor profile (our personal favorite part!).  Are you a Vanilla, Chocolate, Salted Caramel, Peanut Butter Cream, Toasted Coconut Pecan or Pink Champagne couple?

Additionally, you want to think about the time of year that you're getting married at.  Not only can this help direct what you want the cake decorated like, such as Royal Icing snowflakes for a winter wedding, to hand-painted flowers for a Spring wedding; but help you decide just want type of wedding cake decor you should have.  Molded chocolate details, are lovely but in the hot, humid days of summer, can quickly lead to a melted mess. Kara Burfeind, owner of The Sweetside, says "Flowers on cakes are a classic and always look great, but in summer, consider using seasonal berries and a textured buttercream. The duo looks fresh, beautiful and SO tasty!".

Most importantly, remember, that a good wedding cake company will help you with all these decisions and make the experience as stress-free, fun and tasty as possible.
