Flower Trends for 2013
The flower choices for 2013 are still the classic favorites: roses standard, spray, and garden varieties. Orchids are always popular and the most hardiest. Peonies and hydrendreas are always popular mostly for their full shape and romantic look. Hydrangeas are available year round and the miniature green hydrangeas are very hardy. These flowers cost is pretty reasonable because of the size of each flower. And although popular, peonies are only available for a very short while and therefore are more costly. For 2013, we are seeing a comeback in baby's breath and carnations. Look for them to be used in a compact style.

Creating the wedding of your dreams with Melanie Benson Floral Design
Flowers have always been a big feature at Weddings. The groom wears a flower that appears in the bride’s bouquet. This stems from the medieval tradition of a knight wearing his lady's colors, as a declaration of his love. Additionally, each flower has its own meaning and can display a special message. Orange Blossom, for instance, signifies chastity, purity and loveliness, while a red rose means signifies passion.
Melanie Benson, of Melanie Benson Floral Design, understands this language & significance of flowers. Read what she had to say about her passion for the petals:
“I just really like flowers. Even when I was a kid growing up in the San Francisco area I spent tons of time in the garden smelling flowers and eating them, which drove my mother crazy. Later I went to floral design school and interned with anyone and everyone who would take me. That was years ago and I am still learning from those I admire and still loving flowers. My special passion is weddings and although I am a floral designer, creating a total look for a wedding is what I most often do. Bainbridge Island is where my studio is located but I enjoy Seattle so let’s meet there for coffee and talk about your wedding.”
