What inspired you to start your business?
DJing was just a hobby, but after attending many weddings and seeing DJ’s who weren’t that great, in addition to working with DJ companies and seeing a serious lack of customer service, I decided to strike out on my own…especially after going through the wedding planning process myself! 

What sets you apart from other vendors in your field?
We provide more options than just “music” for our clients (A/V options, slideshow production, custom monograms, custom lighting, dance floor rentals and even Photobooth services), and we’re more personable than most other companies throughout the planning process with our clients. 

What's your style?
We offer more of a club-style mixing style of skills with our DJs, however, we’re also known for our classy and elegant programming for the portions of weddings leading up to dancing at the end of the night! 

What is the main thing that makes you unique?
The passion I have for music and for mixing music the way I do in the style that I do it makes me unique as a DJ and entertainer. 

What is your greatest strength?
The ability to interact with people of all ages and backgrounds sets me apart.  The connection I try to make with our clients and the guests at their events makes what I do personal, not just a business venture. 

What are you most proud of?
The team we have here at Adam’s DJ Service is top-notch.  I couldn’t do this without my wife Ellen or my V.P. Travis.  I think the fact that I’ve turned a hobby into my career is pretty cool, too!

John Auburn is the owner of J.W. Desserts, located on Whidbey Island in Washington State's Puget Sound. Now that his kids are in school full time he has opened his retail location at Ken`s Korner Shopping Center in Clinton. John has been a professional cake artist since 1992 and truely loves what he does.

Prior to starting J.W.Desserts he owned "John & Mike's Amazing Cakes" in Redmond, WA, now owned by Mike McCarey. There he was contracted to do many sculpted cakes for high profile events including the 1996 Presidential Debates, the 1997-98 Academy Awards, the 1996 Golden Globes, the 1996 World Series and 1998 Superbowl.

John's wedding cakes have been published in "Modern Bride" and "Brides" magazines as well as in such books as "Weddings For Dummies" and "Sweet Sensations" by Marie Goldstein.

John has lived on Whidbey Island since 1982 and decided to slow down in 1998 in order to be a bigger influence with his children and provide the Island with a high quality product.
