Wedding Beauty: Catching up with Kathy Evans Beauty Studio

Today we're catching up with long-time Weddings in Woodinville hair and makeup vendor, Kathy, of Kathy Evans Beauty Studio.  Kathy has been in business for almost 20 years, has made brides, bridesmaids, mother of the brides and grooms from over 1,000 weddings look flawless on their special day, and is a powerhouse in the industry - known for turning brides and bridal party members into long-term clients.

How did you get started in the bridal makeup industry?
I have been doing bridal makeup since 1997. I worked at several Eastside salons before opening my own Studio in August of 2010. 

What made you want to be a makeup artist?
I was always fascinated by makeup even as a little girl. Makeup is magical you can take something ordinary and transform it into extraordinary!

What is the favorite part of your job?
I love that everyday is different. Each client has different needs. I might be working with a bride or getting a client ready for a special event, or doing a photoshoot on location.  My job is an adventure!

What is the most important piece of advice you can give a bride looking for the perfect bridal makeup?
Be realistic with your expectations, consider the time of day and where you will be photographed indoor / outdoors lighting affects everything!  Book your makeup 6 months in advance this gives you time to schedule your trial session, and any additional beauty sessions you may need to achieve the look you want hair cut / color, spray tan , etc.... 

What sets you apart from other artists?
I have done over 1000 weddings, I do a thorough consultation to get a visual of the look my bride would like created.   I am calm and confident this reassures the bride that she is in good hands.  I am comfortable doing makeup on all ages and skin tones.

Do you have a signature look you like to do for brides?
My signature look is "classic elegance ". This look creates beautiful timeless photos that will always be in style. 

Favorite memory of a wedding or bride?
I had the opportunity last year to do the makeup for one of my long time clients.  Jane started coming to me for brow waxes back in high school. She went off to collage and met the love of her life while studying Photography. They married last September, it was so wonderful to be part of her special day.

A Vibrant Modern Woodinville Wedding from Event Success

This vibrant, fun and modern wedding held at a private residence featured a bright coral, turquoise and chartreuse pallete with geometrical patterns from Event Sucess. We love how the tourquise blue color from the pool was hgihlighted throughout the decor from the tableclothes to the accent pillows to the social media signage.  

From Jacky Grotle, Event Success ~ "When a veteran Seattle event designer is getting married, every element of the event is 'styled'.  Using bright coral, turquoise and chartreuse with geometrical patterns the result was modern, vibrant and fun.  The extraordinary sunny weather only added to the spectacular day.  

The ceremony backdrop was made by her lovely groom Bruce and they tied the knot in front of their new home. They created a logo with a double mountain to represent their two families joining as one. Both Bruce and Daniela’s children played an important role in the ceremony. 

The cocktails were pool side while dinner and dancing were in the garden under a clear canopy and the trees. The talented Bride serenade her groom and the evening ended with glitter cannons and dancing into the night.

Wedding Consultant Jacky Ross Grotle of Event Success says 'this was her final event before retiring Bella Signature Design.  She wanted to use the best vendors and have her wedding personalized and memorable.  It defiantly represented Daniella’s gorgeous style'.

Ultra styled details included the bar tent, bug spray with color coordinating labels, kids’ activities bags and the ceramic bowls with succulents made by the bride & groom for favors."

Vintage glamour hair and makeup from Kathy Evans Beauty Studio

Did you catch Weddings in Woodinville vendor Kathy Evans Beauty Studio on Style Me Pretty last week? Kathy and Natalie (Graham) collaborated with Le Salon Couture Bridal for a promotional shoot to create a vintage glam look inspired by Marilyn Monroe and Brigitte Bardot.  Kathy and Natalie let us in on how they created their classic retro wedding makeup and wedding hair looks.

From Kathy:  
"Makeup inspiration-Soft and glamorous, beautiful skin with and emphasis on the eyes, think Marilyn Monroe. Our 2nd look with the bun I wanted to really bring attention to the eyes peeking out from beneath her flirty fringe.  Urban decay Naked palette 2 was used to create the eyes. Makeup forever HD creme cheek color #220 added a hint of color to the cheeks, Soft Pastel lip color by Bobbi Brown in Pale Petal created a balance on the face and kept the attention on the eyes."

From Natalie: 
"For the hair I started with a vintage mixed with glamour look that had texture and body. My inspiration was from imagery from vintage magazines and imagery of Brigitte Bardot and old Hollywood glamour. I wanted their hair to look soft and touchable, but also wanted volume and texture to complete the look. Oribe products were used to create the hair."
